Narrow defeat for Seniors v Lincolnshire
Yorkshire gave debuts to Darren Walton, Andy Lockwood, Andrew Bell and Graham McLean in a hard fought match against Lincolnshire at a fast running Cleethorpes Golf Club on Monday 28th April.
It was 3/3 at lunchtime with Darren, Andy and Andrew all gaining their first points for Yorkshire.
The afternoon games were a very tight affair with the 5th game of Garry Cuthbert and Andrew Bell going right to the very last hole with the match result still in doubt. A great second shot by the Lincolnshire boys to the long par 4 18th hole secured a 1 up win and a 10-8 victory for Lincolnshire.
The rub of the green seemed to go against Yorkshire in a number of matches but overall there were a lot of positives to take away.
A lot of our “younger” players now head to Wallasey this week for The Frank Stableford Trophy.
Good luck to all as we now want to see this new crop of players put pressure on the established players. Competition for places can only be a good thing for the team as we re-build after an unsatisfactory 2024.
Onwards and upwards!
Garry Cuthbert
