COUNTY CARD CHANGES

 

In 2026, the Yorkshire County Cards will change to an electronic version downloaded to the mobile phone of eligible members via an App.

 The old plastic cards will no longer be valid for use after 31 March 2026.

The electronic card is free-of-charge, but will only be available to members of participating clubs.

 

When requested the holder will show the County Card, as shown in the example below, held on their Mobile Phone, to the staff at the course where they are seeking the reduced green fee.

The Yorkshire County Card is accepted at more than 1,350 clubs throughout England, as well as in many clubs in the County, as the scheme is now national and the cards are usable at all clubs taking part.

The card is available to male and female members of affiliated Clubs in Yorkshire that have registered their participation in the scheme, thus encouraging golfers to seek membership of those Clubs that offer the card. Similar schemes are already in operation in most Counties and have proved greatly beneficial to affiliated Clubs, both in terms of visitor numbers and the retention of members.

How does the scheme work?

  1. The County Cards are free but access to them is only available to members of participating Clubs, which have agreed to accept card holders, at a reduced green fee.
  2. Members, of participating affiliated clubs, who wish to use the County Card scheme are required to register electronically, in the case of Males with the YUGC, or in the case of Females with the YLCGA.
  3. After registering Members will be able to download an electronic County Card onto their mobile phone by downloading and using the GolfGenius App.
  4. Cards will be valid for a 12-month period commencing on 1st April each year, renewed annually while ever the club participates in the scheme and remains affiliated to YUGC/YLCGA.
  5. Subject to the conditions set by the host club, Cards may only be used once at each Club and are not valid for groups of more than four players.
  6. Tee times must be by prior arrangement with the host Club.
  7. Clubs can register as a participating club by completing and submitting a Club Registration form; this only needs to be completed once, and continues until cancelled by the club. Click to download a Club Registration Form.
  8. Clubs are free to impose restrictions on visitor numbers and times, including periods of the year, but must offer a discounted green fee rate for County Card holders, which must be lower than the rate which would normally apply at the date/time.

Clubs will be provided with instructions to help their members to register on the GolfGenius website, and subsequently download an electronic County Card using the GolfGenius App.
