Yorkshire Men’s Golf has much to be thankful for and as a result is able to give Yorkshire members the reward of frequent winning teams together with Yorkshire players representing both England and Great Britain & Ireland with distinction.

We enjoy the benefits of a highly successful Boys’ Coaching scheme which provides the County team with a regular supply of young players who are proven winners for Yorkshire and wear the white rose with pride.  Supplementing those coming from the Boys’ County side are those who gain valuable experience in the Yorkshire Inter District union matches.

We are fortunate to have assistance from some of the highest quality coaches in Yorkshire. Peter Cowen previously led our Coaching team until he found the demands from the professional side of the game took up all his time and more! He has now been replaced as Lead Coach by Messrs Graham Walker and Steve Robinson who are now our Lead Coaches as well as being such for the England Men and England Women Teams respectively. Yorkshire benefit from having a team of coaches who enjoy the respect of the players and have developed training facilities within Yorkshire which allow our players to practice effectively.

Yorkshire has many high-quality courses that are regularly made available to us for championships and inter county matches. The willingness of our affiliated clubs to make available their facilities, and in particular the magnificent championship courses we have in the county, provides us with variety and experience of all conditions.

We have made good use of these advantages to develop world class players and winning teams. Matt Fitzpatrick won The U.S. Amateur Championship on his way to becoming the number 1 amateur ranked golfer in 2013 and he is currently the 34th best ranked player in the world. Danny Willett, also a former world number 1 amateur went on to win The Masters at Augusta National in 2016 and is now ranked 79th. Nick Marsh, Joe Dean and Jamie Bower were English Amateur Champions in successive years in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Yorkshire won the Northern Counties League in 2015, 2016 2017 and again in  2018.

Yorkshire won the English County Championship in both 2017 at Sandwell Park and 2018 at Aldeburgh to add to the multiple successes enjoyed in days gone by.

Spectators are always welcome at all our County matches. This is a great opportunity to see top quality players competing head to head close up. For those who cannot attend in person, we arrange live hole-by-hole scoring on the internet for all our County matches.

We are extremely proud of our record of producing players, results and an excellent team spirit.    Long may it last!
