The Yorkshire Senior team continued its recent run of form with a victory over Derbyshire Seniors at sunny Garforth Golf Club. The morning matches had Yorkshire edging in front 4-2 with a battling 1up win in the top match from local players King and Wardle. The morning also had debutants Steve Greenwood and David Nunn reeling of 3 quick birdies to secure a comfortable 3/2 victory.
The afternoon did not start well with King/Wardle losing the top match 1 down but victories in ALL the remaining games had Yorkshire clear winners at 14-4.
The Yorkshire team also included debuts for Steve Pybus and Paul Taylor who, along with the other debutants Greenwood and Nunn, played well securing victories both morning and afternoon.
The team on the day also included past Yorkshire Senior Champions Mark Lawson and Marshall Newman.
Captain Andy King commented ‘A great performance today and continues a good start to the season. Selection for the next game will not be made until after the Yorkshire and English Seniors championships later this month which will see Rob Treweek defend his Yorkshire title’
The team play its next game against Durham on the 20th June.
