Seniors edged out in Roses battle

Seniors edged out in Roses battle

The first game of The Northern Counties Senior League was a hugely competitive affair played around the links at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

There were no games won comfortably with many of them going down the last. The result was in the balance right until the last game on the 18th green. Alas, Yorkshire were at the wrong end of a number of these close games and Lancashire eventually ran out winners by 10.5 to 7.5.

A much more competitive Seniors league means anyone can beat anyone. Still much to play for.
