The 36 hole final of the 2018 Yorkshire Union Of Golf Clubs Inter-Club Foursomes was played at Moortown Golf Club on Sunday 14th October 2018 with John Shaw refereeing a match that was played at a good pace and in great spirit by two competitive pairs.
At lunch time, after a very wet morning, Bingley St Ives (Andy Town and Terry Brushwood) held a two hole lead over Beverley & East Riding (Neil Burnley and Richard Norton).
The weather improved slightly in the afternoon and in front of a small contingent of mostly ‘west riding’ support it was Bingley St Ives who stretched their lead and ran out winners by a score of 4&3.
The trophy was presented by President Eric Wainwright with Moortown Captain, Malcolm Slinger, also in attendance.
The photograph shows the winners Terry Brushwood (left) and Andy Town from Bingley St Ives who recognised YUGC and Moortown in their speech and paid thanks to their opponents for a good ‘fight’ and for reaching the final for the third time as a pair.
