9.5 - 8.5 Win for Men away at Cheshire
The Yorkshire Team (pictured in the attached montage courtesy of Cheshire photographer Dominic McAllister) ‘never gave up’ and despite having been ‘on the back foot’ for much of the day / match prevailed against a very competitive and enthusiastic Cheshire Team.
Twelve of the eighteen games went down the eighteenth hole making for much tension and excitement with euphoria in some cases and disappointment in others. Whatever the case a handshake followed and the players returned to the ‘battlefield’ to support their teammates.
With a large crowd of onlookers watching the final game it came down to the final putt and Dan Norman (Teesside) confidently holed out from around five or six feet to claim his point (having been four down after eleven holes!) and register the win for Yorkshire by the finest margin possible.
This result means that it is still ‘all to play for’ as we are one of three teams tied at the top in the Men’s league –
Next up for Yorkshire is the match against Northumberland to be played at Arcot Hall on Saturday 4th July.
