Winning start in Northern Counties League for Seniors.
Yorkshire got their Northern Counties League season off to a winning start against Northumberland on May 9th at Forest Park Golf Club, York.
The result was a resounding win by 12.5 points to 5.5. This was even more remarkable as there were 9 regular first team players away at an England Golf event in Leicestershire. Theoretically this left the team a bit threadbare but such is the strength in depth within the senior ranks that it did not feel like a weakened team line up at all. This now poses serious questions over selection for the next match on Monday June 20th against Durham. A nice problem to have.
Special mention goes to Andy Whitworth and Jim Fairhurst who came out of retirement (again) and won both their matches.
