Each year the YUGC holds an Identification Day at Sandburn Hall Golf Club for those boys who are 12 years or under on the 31st December 2021, who are showing promise and the ability to possibly become good players.
On the day you will be placed into small groups, each under the direction of one of the County’s Coaches, all of whom are very qualified, knowledgeable, highly experienced and have coached many international players.
They will assess your various skills and offer advice where needed on how to improve. A particular aspect they will cover is offering advice on how to practise making it more enjoyable and competitive.
You will appreciate we are an exceptionally large county covering more than 180 clubs; therefore, we must limit numbers to 30. If this number is exceeded, acceptance will be based on age and handicap, but please do not be put off – you must ensure you apply again the following year.
The day will be highly informative and good fun – you will hit loads of balls, receive the absolute best coaching and perhaps rub shoulders with some of the County’s leading players!

Provided that you are:
- 12 years or under on 31st December 2021.
- Have a Handicap Index of 25.4 or less (Supported by your CDH Number)
The day will consist of:
- A nine-hole stableford competition.
- Golf skills competitions in each of the following:
- Pitching.
- Short game
- Putting
Prizes will be awarded in all these areas.
