Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs
2016 Annual Dinner
4th November 2016 at the York Racecourse
Over 300 golfers enjoyed another splendid Annual Dinner, held again at the York Racecourse. After an excellent meal, the President of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs presented commemorative plates to three Yorkshire players who had achieved significant success at national level. These were Jamie Bower [Meltham], winner of the Brabazon Trophy, Ben Hutchinson [Howley Hall], winner of the Scrutton Jug, and Dan Brown [Masham], the English Amateur Champion. These and other trophies, including the English Men’s County Championship Trophy, were on display at the dinner.
Those present were honoured by the presence of Mrs. Marian Rae, President of England Golf, who proposed the toast of “The Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs”. The President of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs, Mr. Jonathan Plaxton, responded, and then proposed the toast of “Our Guests”. This was responded to, firstly by Mr. Keith Macintosh, the Captain of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and then by journalist and broadcaster, Mr. Harry Gration, M.B.E..
